Miscellaneous "October Nine"

FROM INSIDESTL.COM 07/25/12
By Scotty Clark

I just got in from an Amtrak ride from Chicago. It is late, I am tired and it has been a hectic last few days. If you are looking for a well-written article this week....fuggedaboutit.

The Main Event final table has had a delayed verdict for 5 years (since 2008).

Just when you got used to the idea of the "November Nine", the WSOP changed the rules and made it the "October Nine". Well, not really. It's still the November Nine, but due to the Presedential elecion in November, Caesars Entertainment has scheduled the final table of the Main Event for October 29th.

It all makes sense to me, and it should for you also...

After a 102 day break for the players, one will walk away with over $8.5 million dollars, the coveted bracelet and the title of "Poker World Champion". Day One of the final table will play down to three players, and Day Two will crown the champion. When this event began, 6598 players "with a dream" entered.

Here is a look at the final nine remaining...

Brent Beckley Gets 14 Months

FROM POKERFUSE.COM 07/23/12

Brent Beckley
On Monday, Brent Beckley was sentenced to 14 months in prison for his part in the Black Friday charges levied against Absolute Poker and its operators. In December of last year, Beckley agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to violate UIGEA and conspiracy to commit bank fraud. The guidelines set forth in the agreement called for imprisonment in the range of 12-18 months, the forfeiture of $300k and a possible fine up to $30K. In May, District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan questioned the appropriateness of the Sentencing Guidelines set forth in the plea deal. In Kaplan’s opinion the nature of the crimes and the dollar amounts involved were not “adequately taken into consideration by the Sentencing Commission” when formulating the 12-18 months imprisonment recommended in the plea agreement and he believed a lengthier sentence was in order...

Chicago Bound

This morning I head to Chicago to work on the Windy City Poker Championship production, and I really do not know what to expect. I have never done such a thing, but the Producer Kirk Fallah seems to think I will be fine. While I appreciate the vote of confidence -- why am I so nervous about it all then? The good part is, I will be amongst friends, and it will be nice to get out of town and have some fun doing it.

This edition of the WCPC benefited the American Legion Post #615 in Tinley Park, Illinois and it will air on Comcast Sports Chicago on August 12 -- along with over 20 other cable outlets, and with a reach of over 70 million homes in something like 24 states. After this thing airs, I will be posting the complete show here for you all to check out my handsome good looks and suave expert commentary...

When I see myself on TV, all I can think is, "For a little guy, I have big ears AND and a big nose".
My co-host is the Ugly American AKA Jason Finn, fresh from his return trip from Amsterdam.

Scotty Clark Poker Show 12

This edition of The Scotty Clark Poker Show will air live on Saturday, instead of our regular Sunday time slot. I go to Chicago tomorrow and will be providing the expert commentary for The Windy City Poker Championship to be aired on Comcast Sports-Chicago August 12th - and with my friend Jason Finn. Somehow I have managed to put a great show together for this special edition...

Our first guest, Marco Valerio hosts QuadJacks TV. I can't tell you how happy I am to have "Agent Marco" on the show, as he did dozens of interviews with poker notables this summer covering the WSOP daily -- and this host extraordinaire will have a lot of interesting stories from the 2012 WSOP. Our next guests are my favorite couple on the WSOP Circuit. David Clark and La Sengphet are from the Dallas area, and David played in the WSOP Circuit National Championship this year. Dave has won two WSOP Circuit rings and finished runner-up two other times. La is the first (and only) woman to win three WSOP Circuit titles -- and is one of the happy people in the world, full of positive energy.

In a segment new to the show, we will be introducing "Heads-up with..." and this will be a pre-recorded segment where I go one-on-one with a guest. I am Heads-Up with 2012 Bracelet winner Joey Weissman this week, and this 24 year-old took down Event #46 for nearly $700K. Weissman has been a bit of a poker nomad since Black Friday and we talked about winning a bracelet, Vancouver, Costa Rica, puppies, his new East Village apartment, and his plans for the future among other things...

Radio Show Archive #11

BROUGHT TO YOU BY LOCK POKER
This is the archive for my eleventh poker show.

The Poker Monkey made his return from the World Series of Poker, and coming off his 175th place finish in the Main Event. Lock ProElite Melanie Weisner was our first guest. We played "Ten Naughty Questions" with Melanie and learned how her WSOP went. Melanie talked about about traveling the world and a trip to the French Open, and upcoming trips to Australia and the Olympics.

We talked about Monkey's run in the Main Event, we called Windy City Poker Championship (WCPC)  host Jason Finn in Amsterdam, and Chris Tryba anchored the show. Chris discussed the thrill of winning a WSOP Bracelet this year, his plans for the future and relocating to his new home in Colorado.

Monkey got Chris to talk about his table demeanor, and this was a good show. Check it out!

The Return of STL POKER

Tim McKernan, Justiin Boyd and myself are resurrecting STL Poker at www.InsideSTL.com

It has been thirteen months since I have written for STL Poker, and the first thing I would like to do, is apologize to JBoyd and Timmy. I told Justin one day in the Spring of 2011, I would never leave him hanging, and if I ever quit writing this poker section, I would give him due notice. Well, I didn't. I just disappeared and wrote about it at ScottyClarkPoker.com instead.

So here is what happened there...

"Where you been Scotty?"

I kinda went broke. Not completely broke, but broken, and better players than me have went broke. My computer also went broke -- and after playing for a living for four years straight, I was more than burnt out from poker. I quit writing for InsideSTL, Ante Up magazine, and just kind of rolled into a poker ball -- like the time Phil Hellmuth collapsed to the floor after busting, and into the fetal postion. My last post for STL POKER was June 13, 2011 and after my trip to the 2011 WSOP for the Circuit National Championship Million Dollar freeroll last year. It was an honor to play in that thing, but I didn't cash (26th of 100). I went back to work for a brief time and let me tell you, shoveling horse shit for free beer and ham sandwiches is a humbling experience -- and I learned what an unemployable fuck I really am....

Fuck You Google

This is the new SCOTTYS BLOG and I am calling it SCOTTYS BLOG 2.0

Why a new blog? I am going to tell you why. Google locked me out of my previous blog and that story is a big bunch of shit. Sometime around the first of July, my Blogger password quit working, and I thought "no big deal", I will just re-set the password -- but every time I would try and log in using the new password, Google's Blogger would not allow me to log in. Weird. After re-setting my password about ten times, I received a notice to answer a series of personal questions, and was told my blog would be locked while an investigation was conducted over a period of 3-5 days. This was after I went through four or five attempts to "recover control of your blog" wizards that did not work...and there has been no reply!

Chuck the Fuck
The even weirder part is there is no support at Google for bloggers who use Blogger. The only support you get is a forum, and the pricks that moderate the forum, simply refer users who can not recover their blogs to the same stupid wizards I had used previously. The one dumb prick that dealt with my case is named Chuck Croll and Chuck the Fuck has been no help at all. Whatever dude, it is time to move on...

The Cons. I had built my blog readership up to about 500 hits per day, and most readers bookmarked my blogspot address. I have had readers who will probably never find this blog. The ScottyClarkPoker.com address forwarded readers to my previous blogspot address at that time, it now forwards readers here -- and I am really pissed off about all this. As the title says...Fuck You Google, you tight bastards. Because they offer Blogger as a free courtesy, the company offers no live support to people that use it. Typical Corporate America. I poured four years of my life into that blog, and no one at Google seems to give a shit. I even called Google World Headquarters, and when given a choice to choose from the menu, and upon not hearing a live support option, I picked the "Buy Google Ads" prompt, because you always know a salesman will pick up that call. Twice I went this route. The first salesman said he would connect me with support, and I was put into a never-ending computerized maze that did not include any live help. The second salesman said he would contact support on my behalf and send me an email that included help links -- the same help wizards I has already used, and that did not work for me. Thanks for nothing!

The Pros. This new blog will be more user friendly. The ScottyClarkPoker.com address will now refer you here and you can access my first blog at the top and it is marked "The Original SCOTTYS BLOG".

As you may have already noticed, this blog is easier on the eyes, and has a much better look as far as aesthetics go. Thanks for sticking with me, and please tell a friend about this blog...
